Very pretty creek paddle up Turkey Creek (upper end of Buckhorn Reservoir)
PFD, whistle, hydration required.
Primitive Launch at lake, paddle left to creek entrance and upstream. Landscape varies, includes interesting, steep rocky sides.
Dress for cold water is required for this paddle, you may have to get wet when maneuvering over and around things in the creek.
Bring snack/ lunch. Will include stop along the way to stretch legs and eat.
Directions:
In google maps type in: new Sandy Hill Church Road, Wade Thompson Road
From Raleigh, Head east on 264 toward Middlesex, exit alt 264/ Stokes Rd, turn Right on SR 231 heading South, turn left on Bissette Road, turn left on New Sandy Hill Church rd, then right turn on Wade Thompson Rd, 1221 or called Bunn rd.
Dont be confused by Bunn rd on East shore of Buckhorn, this does not connect.
Launch is pretty rural, no facilities. Unload boat near lake and then park in lot above launch area.
